A Day In The Country is Kentucky’s original folk art fair. With more than 50 folk artists from ten statesA Day in the Country is one of the largest annualday-in-the-country-logo.jpg gatherings of folk artists in America. At the event, visitors can purchase artworks directly from artists. The event also features a fine crafts auction and live acoustic music.

Held on the first Saturday of June each year at the Morehead Conference Center, A Day In The Country is Kentucky’s original folk art fair. With dozens of participating artists from across the eastern U.S., A Day in the Country is one of the largest annual gatherings of folk artists in the country. At the event, visitors can purchase artworks directly from artists, and there is no admission fee. The fair was founded by famed Kentucky woodcarver Minnie Adkins more than 20 years ago.

The event also features the opening of a major exhibition of works by Bruce New on Friday, June 2 at 5:30-7:30 p.m. and a silent auction of non-Kentucky works recently deaccessed from KFAC’s vast permanent collection. The auction begins at 5 p.m. on Friday and concludes promptly at 1 p.m. Artists represented in the deaccession auction include William Dawson, Purvis Young, Howard Finster, B.F. Perkins, S.L. Jones, Mose Tolliver, Mary T. Smith, and many more. If you cannot attend the event but wish to participate in the auction, please send an email to m.collinswor@moreheadstate.edu.
